Day 1 of hiking complete! Today, we covered 10.03 miles. The weather was gorgeous and actually perhaps a little too warm for us. But, oh, the sunshine. We started off from the beach in St. Bee’s, the official start of the Coast to Coast Walk. Here is the team.

Meet our good friends, Rich and Elizabeth Felt, and Janet and I. Here we are at the very start of the walk. Look at that weather.

This is our first Coast to Coast sign. We will see many more.

The wildflowers were gorgeous. We saw Thrift, Sea Campion, Gorse, Foxglove, Lupen, and many, many others we couldn’t identify.

We passed many beautiful, pastoral scenes. So much wonderful green. And sheep and cows way too numerous to count.

The creator of this walk was Alfred Wainwright. This is a sign in honor of him.

Tomorrow is a little shorter day with 6 miles. But we have a really hard hill right at the beginning.

I am ready for a really good night’s sleep.

God bless,
Coe
