Hello everyone, thanks for following along with us on our England Coast to Coast walk. We both turn 70 years old in 2023, and as a way of staring down old age, we are planning to walk across England. It is a “coast to coast” (C2C) walk and so we are calling it “Coe & Janet’s C2C.”

We are excited that you will be traveling along with us via this blog. It is our hope to post something almost every night of the walk along with some pictures. But no guarantees about the every night part, we might be just too tuckered out.

We start walking May 26 and finish 21 days later with four of those days as rest days. We average 11 miles a day with a low of 6 and a high of 14.5. The total walk is over 190 miles and that is assuming we don’t make any wrong turns and have to backtrack (which is sure to happen). Over the entire walk we will gain elevation equivalent to climbing Mt. Everest. We start in the small, west coast village of St. Bee’s on the Irish Sea and end up on the east coast at the village of Robin Hood’s Bay. On the way, we will pass through three national parks. We have a company that has made all our reservations for each night’s accommodations at B&B’s and inns along the way. They will transport our suitcase from inn to inn, so we will only have to carry our daypack. Navigation is up to us, there is no guide for this trip. If we get lost its on us. However, we are very pleased that on the first about 10 days of the hike we will be joined by our good friends Elizabeth and Rich Felt. It will be really fun to have some hiking buddies as we get through some of the tougher parts of the hike.

There will be a few posts prior to our journey as we prepare for this epic adventure. So thanks for subscribing. We also plan to spend a few days in Northern Ireland on our way to England and we will send a couple updates from there.

God bless (and happy hiking)
Coe & Janet
