We did not have sufficient internet service at last night’s accommodation to post a blog, so this post is a day late and covers our travels on Thursday.

West Highland Way-Stage #6-Tyndrum to Bridge of Orchy
Today’s Miles: 7.2
Total Miles: 64.6
Remaining Miles: 31.4

We started today with a delicious and healthy breakfast including baked local trout which had been caught by the innkeeper’s husband. It was great.

Today was our easiest day yet, and will very likely be the easiest day of the entire walk…well, unless we decide to take a bus for one of the stages. It was 7 miles of relatively flat, and fairly easy, terrain. We enjoyed very pleasant walking weather and were finished before it began to get warm in the afternoon. There were many beautiful views of the highland mountains…and, of course, sheep.

We passed through another narrow tunnel. But this one had much more room. Either we are getting thinner or the tunnels are getting wider. Definitely the latter.

We walked most of the day alongside Beinn Dorain, which, in Gaelic, means Mt. Dorain. It was pretty impressive and went straight up from the valley floor. Very different than our mountains in the northwest, but still very impressive when you are at the bottom looking up.

After a very enjoyable days walk we came to our accommodation at the Bridge of Orchy hotel. Here’s the hotel.

The hotel is named for the Bridge of Orchy. Here’s the bridge behind the hotel.

The bridge is named for the River Orchy. Here’s the river.

The river is named for…we don’t have the slightest idea, but we don’t think it is for orcs like in the Lord of the Rings.

Love to you all!

God bless,
Coe
